The car was a single 330 P2 Lightweight Spyder sent from Maranello to the USA ahead of Ferrari's main European season, entered under Luigi Chinetti's NART banner. The drivers were John Surtees — reigning Formula 1 World Champion — and Pedro Rodriguez. They qualified fastest. They did not finish.
It is a DNF on paper and one of the most significant Ferrari sports prototype entries of the 1960s in reality — the fastest car on the grid at the season opener, driven by two of the era's defining talents, retired by a single mechanical failure before the result could be recorded.
