This Platz / BEEMAX PL-BX12002 is a 1/12 scale plastic model assembly kit — Formula Series No.02 — produced with the full cooperation of McLaren, combining actual vehicle research with direct input from mechanics who worked on the car during the 1988 season. At 1/12 scale, BEEMAX's new-tool kit achieves a level of detail that smaller scales cannot approach: Gordon Murray's characteristic low-profile monocoque and the bodywork's precise silhouette are reproduced with shape accuracy, all cowlings are removable after completion to expose the engine bay beneath, and the Honda V6 twin-turbo engine is detailed in full with all ancillary components reproduced — intercoolers, turbochargers, fuel lines, and surrounding support structures at a resolution that communicates the engineering complexity of what was, at the time, the most powerful and sophisticated Formula 1 powertrain in the world. All tooling is completely new for this kit, with no shared components from any previous release. Rain tyres are included as a first-run limited bonus, expanding the build options to include the wet qualifying configuration as well as the dry race specification. A dedicated detail-up parts set is available separately to further enhance the finished model.
The definitive 1/12 kit of the most dominant Formula 1 car ever built — developed with McLaren's full cooperation, engineered from scratch with all-new tooling, and presented in the Monaco GP specification that produced one of Senna's most legendary qualifying performances — essential for serious F1 model builders and McLaren or Senna collectors alike.
