BBR BG290A | 1:43 Ferrari 360 Modena | Target Design | Silver | Limited Edition — BBR's Special Design Study of the Final-Year 360, in the Most Architectural Colour

The Ferrari 360 Modena marked the opening of a new design language for Ferrari at the turn of the millennium — one that would define the visual character of the brand's V8 sports cars through the 458, the 488, and beyond. Introduced at Geneva in 1999 as the replacement for the F355, the 360 brought a radically different approach: an all-aluminium spaceframe chassis co-developed with Alcoa that was 40% stiffer and 28% lighter than its predecessor despite a 10% increase in overall dimensions; a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 with titanium connecting rods, a flat-plane crankshaft, and 40 valves producing 400 PS at 8,500 rpm; and a body by Pininfarina — designed by Goran Popović — that turned away from the previous decade's sharp angles and pop-up headlights in favour of surfaces that were flowing, muscular, and entirely resolved. The engine was visible through a glass cover, celebrating rather than hiding its architecture. The 360 Modena set a standard of 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 295 km/h, and remained in production until 2004 when it was replaced by the Ferrari F430.

The Target Design edition produced by BBR in 2004 represents a special category of model — distinct from race replicas and road car colour variants, it is a design-oriented interpretation of the 360 Modena developed specifically by BBR as a collector piece. The "Target Design" concept takes the 360's body as a canvas and applies a carefully developed graphic and paint treatment that explores the car's form in a different way from any standard production livery. In Silver, the Target Design presents the 360 Modena's sculpture in the manner that most clearly reads the surface modelling Pininfarina created — the muscular rear haunches, the broad shoulders, the fastback roofline, the twin circular tail lights — all revealed without the interference of colour warmth or visual emphasis.

Silver on the 360 Modena is simultaneously the most technically honest and the most elegant choice available. It catches light across the surfaces in the way that reveals Pininfarina's work at its most considered, and it connects the car visually to the tradition of silver Italian racing cars that defined the Maranello aesthetic of an earlier era. On the Target Design version, with its specific graphic treatment applied over that silver base, the effect is entirely its own.

BBR Models of Saronno — the official model manufacturer of Ferrari, founded in 1984, with over 40 years of Italian hand-craft — produced the Target Design series in extremely limited quantities, with the silver variant identified as BG290A. In BBR Serie ORO hand-built format, in BBR's plexiglass showcase, brand new and factory sealed.
