The Ferrari-Puma partnership is one of the most long-standing cross-brand collaborations in the automotive and lifestyle world. Puma has served as the official supplier of footwear, clothing and accessories to Scuderia Ferrari's Formula 1 team and to Ferrari's road car programme for decades, making the Puma logo and Ferrari's Prancing Horse two of the most frequently co-appearing brand marks in motorsport. The Puma Edition of the 599 GTB Fiorano translates that alliance into a special presentation model, applying the distinctive Puma branding to the 599 GTB in a version that celebrates the two brands' shared identity of Italian style and high performance. BBR produced only 39 examples of this specific model — a number that was deliberately chosen to reflect the extreme exclusivity of the collaboration it represents.
The car itself was, at the time of its 2006 introduction, the most powerful series production Ferrari road car ever built. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano — named for its 5,999 cc displacement, Gran Turismo Berlinetta designation, and Ferrari's Fiorano test circuit — replaced the 575M Maranello and deployed an engine derived directly from the Ferrari Enzo: a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated 65° V12, designated Tipo F140 C, producing 620 PS at 7,600 rpm and 608 Nm of torque at 5,600 rpm, with a redline of 8,400 rpm. The specific output of over 100 PS per litre from a naturally aspirated road car was, in 2006, an extraordinary figure that placed the 599 in a class almost entirely by itself. Zero to 100 km/h arrived in 3.7 seconds; top speed exceeded 330 km/h. The transmission was Ferrari's 'F1 SuperFast2' automated manual, capable of gearchanges in 100 milliseconds in race mode.
The body was designed by Jason Castriota at Pininfarina, with an aerodynamic approach that challenged expectations of what a front-engined grand tourer could achieve. The distinctive flying buttresses flanking the rear window were initially conceived as a styling element — wind tunnel testing revealed they reduced rear-axle lift by over 100 kg at high speed, turning a visual detail into a functional one. In Red, the 599's muscular long-bonnet proportions, sculptural surfacing, and Pininfarina's subtle detailing are presented in the colour that most directly connects this car to Ferrari's road and racing heritage.
In 2010, Ferrari introduced the HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione) package for the 599, adding stiffer springs, revised anti-roll bars, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon-fibre mirrors, dashboard and steering wheel, and an upgraded gearbox reducing shift times to 85 milliseconds — bringing the 0–60 mph time to match the Enzo's 3.3 seconds. The 2010 model year designation of BBRC047A places it in this definitive late-production configuration of the 599 GTB.
