A highly anticipated re-release of an iconic buggy with innovative mechanics
Originally introduced as Tamiya’s first full-scale electric RC buggy, the Buggy Champ gained worldwide popularity. Based on that legendary model, the Fighting Buggy was released in 1982 as a higher-performance, more competition-oriented version. Responding to strong demand from RC fans, this iconic model has now been faithfully reissued.
While retaining its distinctive suspension and drivetrain layout, various improvements have been made throughout the chassis. The highly realistic ABS resin body, inspired by real off-road buggies, features newly designed markings that preserve the original image. The roof panel is made of aluminum, and realistic side nets are also included to enhance scale realism.
Chassis design packed with authentic off-road character
The main frame, originally constructed from 2mm FRP plates and duralumin plates, has been updated to a 2.5mm FRP plate and finished in black, along with a 1.5mm FRP radio deck. A compact LF1100-6.6V Racing Pack (M size)battery (sold separately) is mounted beneath the radio deck.
The front and rear suspensions use die-cast arms, just like the original model. The rear suspension features distinctive dampers with reserve tanks, recreated using newly designed parts for improved precision. The gearbox fully encloses the motor and employs a solid axle (no differential) design, delivering high traction performance.
The front tires use a rib pattern for excellent directional stability, while the rear tires feature aggressive spikes that wrap around the shoulders for strong off-road grip. Three-piece wheels are used front and rear to securely hold the tires in place, allowing you to fully enjoy realistic off-road driving.
