The XP-700 was GM design chief Bill Mitchell's personal dream machine: a 1958 Corvette radically rebodied with a Grand Prix-inspired nose, dramatic air scoops, side pipes, and Dayton wire wheels. In its original red roadster form, it previewed the sculpted rear deck that would shape the 1961 Corvette—and its chassis later lived on beneath the legendary XP-755 Mako Shark.
