The Nissan 300ZX that competed in IMSA was one of the great sleeper stories of American endurance racing. Launched in Japan in 1989 as the Z32 Fairlady Z, the road car barely appeared on Japanese circuits — but in its primary market of North America, Cunningham Racing transformed it into a dominant force. The production twin-turbo VG30DETT was tuned beyond 700 horsepower, transplanted into a tube-frame chassis and wrapped in lightweight fiber bodywork that wore the 300ZX silhouette while sharing almost nothing with the original underneath. The early 2-seat-based cars were notoriously difficult to drive, and only after switching to the longer-wheelbase 2+2 platform did everything click: 1992 brought back-to-back victories and both the drivers' and manufacturers' championships. By 1994, the 300ZX had claimed Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans class honors, and an IMSA double title. In 1995 — the car represented here — the team ran a revised package with an Infiniti-sourced naturally aspirated V8, carrying No.75 into Daytona for one final season at the front of the GTS class.

Make Up VISION's VM305 was developed from a 3D scan of the sole surviving 300ZX IMSA car known to exist in Japan, with archive research filling in the specific 1995 Daytona 24 Hours configuration where the machine had been modified race by race over its career. The iconic American tricolor livery is rendered through a combination of hand-painted divisions and precision decals, while the BBS racing wheels are built from machined aluminum turned parts combined with etched-metal mesh inserts — a level of construction that delivers genuine spoke depth and sharpness at 1/43 scale. Inside, the roll cage is present in partial form with the IMSA-mandatory driver safety net reproduced in etched metal, and the dashboard carries carbon fiber decal treatment. The heavily louvered rear cooling section is built up with separate frame, damper, and suspension arm parts for structural and visual authenticity. Edition size is limited to 150 pieces worldwide.

A model built from the last surviving example of an American racing legend, the VM305 is the kind of subject that appeals equally to IMSA historians, Nissan Z collectors, and anyone drawn to the golden era of GTS endurance racing in North America.
