BBR Models BBR170B | 1:43 Ferrari 575 Superamerica 2004 | Yellow | Roof Open | Hand-Built Resin

The Ferrari 575 Superamerica solved the convertible problem in a way no one else had thought of. Instead of folding, stacking, or hiding the roof, Leonardo Fioravanti patented a single carbon-fibre panel that simply rotated 180 degrees at the rear — lying flat over the boot in seven seconds at the push of a button. The glass was electrochromic, adjustable through five tint levels from inside the cabin. Ferrari called the system Revocromico. The result was a car that worked perfectly as both a coupé and a convertible, with no compromises in either direction, and a top speed of 199 mph with the roof open or closed.

Only 559 were built. All were pre-sold before the first production car was shown. Just 43 had a manual gearbox. The engine was a 5.7-litre V12 producing 540 hp — uprated from the standard 575M — in a car named after Ferrari's legendary V12 grand tourers of 1956–1961. It was the last great front-engined Ferrari GT before the 599 GTB Fiorano replaced it.

In yellow with the roof open, this BBR model shows the Superamerica at its most vivid — the Pininfarina body fully exposed, the Revocromico panel flat over the boot, exactly as it was meant to be driven.
