BBR BBRC254 | 1:43 Ferrari 488 GTE EVO | #82 Risi Competizione | GTE Pro | 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020 | Limited 99 pcs — America's Ferrari at La Sarthe

Every edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans carries its own story. The 88th running of the race — postponed from its traditional June date to September 2020 by the global pandemic — was contested behind closed gates, without spectators, in an atmosphere unlike any Le Mans in the event's near-century of history. Onto this uniquely charged stage rolled the No. 82 Ferrari 488 GTE EVO of Risi Competizione, the only team representing the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the GTE Pro class, and the only American-based squad in that rarefied company.

Risi Competizione is not a newcomer to La Sarthe. Founded in Houston, Texas, in 1997 by Giuseppe Risi — the man whom Enzo Ferrari personally asked in 1972 to operate the first Ferrari dealership in America — the team has built a record across more than 25 years of professional GT racing that stands as the most accomplished Ferrari programme in North American motorsport history. Three class wins at Le Mans (1998, 2008 and 2009), three at the 12 Hours of Sebring, and five at Petit Le Mans testify to the team's pedigree at the most demanding events on the endurance calendar.

For the 2020 edition, Giuseppe Risi assembled an all-French driver lineup of particular resonance: Sébastien Bourdais — four-time Champ Car World Series champion, IndyCar race winner and a man who was literally born in the city of Le Mans — shared the No. 82 Ferrari with Olivier Pla and young Jules Gounon, who had made his Le Mans debut for Risi the previous year. Qualifying eighth in class, the Ferrari ran strongly through the opening stages of the race, undisturbed and competitive, until a front shock absorber issue at the thirteenth hour forced an unscheduled pit stop that cost the team crucial time and positions. The car ultimately finished the race, a testament to the reliability that has been central to Risi's endurance philosophy throughout its history.

The Ferrari 488 GTE EVO itself is one of the most successful GT racing machines ever built — a carbon-fibre monocoque weapon powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 producing in excess of 600 bhp, developed from the road-going 488 GTB and refined over successive seasons of FIA WEC and IMSA competition into a car that has won at the highest level of GTE racing around the world. At Le Mans 2020, the No. 82 represented that pedigree in the colours of the most storied American Ferrari team.
