BBR BBRC008 | 1:43 Ferrari F430 Challenge | Finali Mondiali 2008 | Mugello | Limited 300 pcs — The World Finals of Ferrari's Own Championship, at Ferrari's Own Circuit

The Finali Mondiali is Ferrari's annual grand finale — the event that closes the Ferrari Challenge season each year by bringing together the champions from every regional championship (Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific) to compete for the world title at a single circuit. It is Ferrari's most complete expression of what the Challenge programme means: owner-drivers who have competed throughout the year, meeting at a location chosen for its significance to the brand, for a last confrontation that determines who stands at the top of the Ferrari one-make world.

In 2008, that location was the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello — the circuit in the hills of Tuscany that Ferrari itself has owned since 1988. Mugello is not simply Ferrari's favourite circuit; it is, in the most literal sense, Ferrari's circuit. The brand uses it for development testing, for track events, for the Challenge rounds, and for the Finali Mondiali itself, which has returned to Mugello more times than to any other venue since the series began in 1993. A Ferrari racing at Mugello in the Finali Mondiali is a Ferrari exactly where it belongs.

The car that competed in 2008 was the F430 Challenge — at that point the most current generation of Ferrari's one-make racing programme, introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005 to succeed the 360 Challenge and produced in total limited numbers of just 142 units between 2007 and 2010. The F430 Challenge was developed directly from the road-going Ferrari F430, carrying the same 4.3-litre naturally aspirated 90° V8 engine from the Ferrari F136 family, producing 490 PS at 8,500 rpm. This engine represented a genuine milestone in Ferrari's history — the first entirely new V8 architecture Ferrari had developed since the 1950s, replacing a lineage of Dino-derived V8s that had run for fifty years. The F430's engine connected directly to Maserati's own V8 programme and established the F136 family that would go on to power the Ferrari 458, the California, and numerous successors.

In Challenge specification, the F430 retained that engine in largely standard tune — Ferrari's philosophy for the Challenge series has always been to produce cars that are genuinely identical and that reward driver skill rather than technical preparation. The modifications were focused on safety and competition suitability: a full roll cage, a racing seat with head restraint, a four-point safety harness, and from the 2008 season onwards the mandatory mounting points for the HANS system. Weight was reduced to 1,225 kg through the use of a Lexan windscreen and carbon fibre in the air intake cover. The 6-speed F1 paddle-shift sequential transmission from the road car carried over with gear changes of 150 milliseconds. Carbon ceramic brakes, standard from the road car, provided the fade resistance essential for repeated hard stops in a race environment. The result was a car capable of 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h — figures that underlined the seriousness of the Ferrari Challenge as a competitive platform.

The Finali Mondiali at Mugello in 2008 was the defining event of the F430 Challenge era — the point at which the best Ferrari Challenge drivers in the world gathered at the circuit that Ferrari calls home. BBR Models of Saronno — the official model manufacturer of Ferrari, with over 40 years of Italian craft — renders this specific car, this specific event, and this specific circuit in their Concept series format. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide, in BBR's plexiglass showcase, brand new and factory sealed.
